Structural vibration expertise

Structure vibration expertise  allows to diagnostic and solve vibration structure problems(resonance frequency, stiffness problem, anchoring problem, faulting or missing support). Structure vibrations are diagnosed with several tools such as Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) done when machine is stopped or with Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) done when machine is in operation. 

When?

  • Vibration felt or transmitted by a structure.
  • Break-down phenomena on static structures.
  • Vibration amplification by a structure.
  • Vibration resonance linked to process or not.

Why?

  • Avoid consequences of resonance frequency (high vibrations, break-down…)
  • Risk assessment related to alternate stresses and fatigue.
  • Qualify and evaluate structures and their supports.
  • Reduction of structure vibration.
  • Put in place concrete solutions such as new supporting or stiffness addition.
  • Validate a machine layout or design.
  • Limit equipment vibrations due to its installation (supports, suspension…) or its structure.

We work on site with all measurement equipment necessary to carry out the structural vibration expertise. Our team can be mobilized urgently to provide these services.

  • Structure site instrumentation with our sensors.
  • Resonance frequency measurements (bump test)
  • Modal Analysis (resonance frequencies and mode shapes).
  • Operating Deflection Shape (ODS)
  • Strain measurements and analysis with gages (extensometry)
  • Hot analysis and reporting on site. Propose an action plan at short and middle term.
  • Detailed expertise report in our office.
